CC Power

Meet C.C. Power.

CC Power is a well-established electric company in Northern Michigan. Initially, they specialized in overhead power but quickly recognized the need to expand their services to include underground power. This prompted them to search for the right equipment to accomplish this new focus, the Vermeer lineup.

About The Bore.

Initially, Cherryland Electric reached out to CC Power due to having a lot of trouble with their overhead power lines, especially with all the trees around and the changing ground conditions, making repairs tough. After devising a plan, CC Power executed an impressive 1,600 ft underwater bore using a Vermeer D40x55 S3 drill, in late September 2024. To locate utilities underwater, CC Power utilized a DCI Falcon F5 on a boat, dropping marker buoys at designated points.

Why did CC Power choose the D40x55 S3? Levi explained, “The D40x55 is a beast of a machine with a smaller footprint for its size, making it very versatile. We also cover a lot of ground when we run 15-foot rods, and with the rapidly changing ground conditions here, it’s crucial to work efficiently.”

A New Partnership.

Ryan Burley, the territory manager for Vermeer Midwest in Northern Michigan, has been the sales rep for CC Power since 2007. After connecting with the company more than a decade ago, he sold them their first piece of Vermeer equipment in 2010. Since then, CC Power has acquired various other machines, including plows, trenchers, mini excavators, and vacuum excavators. The company continues enhancing its yellow iron fleet to maintain its position as a leader in the underground electric industry.

Levi Ayers, the general foreman and supervisor of CC Power’s directional bore division, has been with the company for over six years. He has developed a strong relationship with Vermeer Midwest, dating back to his time as an operator. When asked about his experience with Vermeer Midwest, Levi stated, “My relationship with them is great. I could call Ryan (territory manager) or Shane (lead technician) at 2 AM, and they will answer, and dare I say 99% of the time they can walk us through an issue and get us back up and running which is huge. Time is money in this business.”

“That’s why we rely on these Vermeer machines—they get the job done.” – Levi Ayers
